Taylor Caffey

Taylor Caffey is the President and owner of Landmark Mortgage & Associates, Inc., a residential mortgage company, and President and co-owner of The Caffey Group, LLP, a commercial property management company. As a small business owner, his experience has assisted The Schools of McKeel Academy in maintaining a conservative but progressive charter school program. All four of his children have or currently attend McKeel schools.

Michael Clanton

Michael Clanton is a Vice President of Commercial Lending at CenterState Bank of Florida. He brings 13 years of banking, financing and management experience to his role with The Schools of McKeel Academy. He has a Bachelor’s in Finance from The University of West Georgia. He and his wife Katie are Bartow natives. They both graduated from Bartow High School and have three children.

Michael Peeples

As the Director of Land Acquisition and Development, Michael Peeples is responsible for all the real estate activities for Southern Homes of Polk County. He is also co-owner of MEGG Investments, a local real estate investment group. Michael is a graduate of Lakeland High School and Tennessee Tech where he played football while earning his BS in Finance and MBA, with an emphasis in management information systems. He and his wife Katherine are Lakeland natives, and both want to have an influence in early education not only for their own children, but to make the community where they grew up a better place. They have a son in kindergarten attending South McKeel Academy, and a 3-year old daughter. Michael currently serves as President of the Achievement Academy Board of Trustees, is a member of the Leadership Lakeland Alumni and Polk County Builders Association.

Phillip E. Walker

Phillip E. Walker has been the owner, agency principal for Lakeland Allstate Insurance since 1991, and is also a Lakeland City Commissioner. He has served in many community service and mentoring roles in the community even earning the Polk Mentoring Award from Governor Jeb Bush. In addition to the McKeel Board, he also serves on the Salvation Army and Good Shepherd Hospice boards and has a leadership role with his church, Christ community Christian Center Church. He is a graduate of Kathleen High school, has a Masters degree in Criminal Justice and was a Lakeland Police Officer for several years. Married to Cappie D Cooke, they have 3 children, one who is currently attending McKeel Academy of Technology.

Seth McKeel

Seth McKeel is a native of Polk County and the grandson of Seth McKeel for whom the school is named. The Schools of McKeel Academy have sealed a solid and successful educational reputation in the community. Seth is Vice President of Lakeland Properties and Management, Inc. Seth has proven his commitment to the children of Polk County by contributing time and guidance to the educational community. His vast experience with the charter school movement and serving on the McKeel governing boards since their inception has proven valuable to the schools’ growth. Seth currently has a son at South McKeel Academy.

Stephanie L. Campbell

Stephanie L. Campbell is the Business Development Manager and Grant Coordinator for Polk State College Corporate College. She brings over 30 years of education, training and workforce development experience to her position on the Board. She has a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Florida Southern College and her Master’s in Education from Nova Southeastern University. On the McKeel board since 2012, she is the chairman of the Governance committee and a member of the Executive Committee. Ms. Campbell is a native of Winter Haven, a Winter Haven High School graduate, has four children, and has a passion for youth programs in Polk County.

Jackie Yon

Jackie Yon, RN is the Associate Vice President of Nursing and Patient Care Services at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She has a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Florida Southern and a Master’s in Nursing, Adult Health from University of South Florida. She brings 45 years of experience in healthcare, leadership and nursing to the Board. Jackie is a Florida native, raised in Plant City and a resident of Lakeland since 1979. She has three adult children and four grandchildren. Her niece is a teacher at McKeel Academy Central.
