Visitor & Volunteer Policy

Visitor & Volunteer Policy

Thank you for your willingness to serve and support our schools. Whether your student(s) attends McKeel Academy of Technology (MAT), McKeel Academy Central (MAC), or South McKeel Academy (SMA), our schools offer a variety of opportunities to partner in support of our students, teachers and staff. The Schools of McKeel Academy values student safety and security. Any person(s) desiring to visit or volunteer at one of our campuses must follow protocol.

Any person(s) desiring to volunteer (must be 21 years of age or older) within our system of schools must submit a volunteer application, complete a Level 2 fingerprint background screening and receive approval prior to participating in any volunteer opportunities.

Due to statutory changes, Senate Bill 676, adopted by the Florida Legislature the process for volunteers has changed. If you were previously approved to volunteer, you will need to complete this new process prior to volunteering.

Applicants will be screened by the Level 2 screening standards outlined in Florida Statute 435, which list the disqualifying offenses that will result in a denial of the application, including any conviction of, or adjudication withheld for a felony offense. It is important to note there are 23 additional disqualifying offenses under 435.04 that have not previously been reviewed for educational purposes.

Click here to review disqualifying offenses, or search "Florida Statute 435."
