McKeel Scholarship Program

For McKeel Academy of Technology Seniors

ON A MISSION

Through the McKeel Scholarship Program, we invest in the graduates of McKeel Academy of Technology and truly make an impact on the lives of those who pass through our doors. The generosity of the staff of The Schools of McKeel Academy are what keep strong the McKeel Legacy Scholarship program that was established to recognize and honor the founding Principal of McKeel Academy of Technology. Since 2007, these scholarships have been awarded to graduating McKeel Academy of Technology seniors to assist with education expenses and strengthen the McKeel legacy.

INVEST IN OUR STUDENTS

With these scholarships, we show that we believe in our McKeel students by investing in their future education. The McKeel Scholarship Program provides four scholarship offerings to assist deserving students with college expenses in the pursuit of their dreams. We are grateful for our employees, parents, business partners and alumni who have been committed to investing in students who have demonstrated success in our programs.

The award selection process is competitive. Students are required to have a minimum weighted grade point average of 3.5 with a minimum of 150 community service hours. Students are to submit an essay along with their resume and two letters of recommendation. The Review Committee evaluates and scores the anonymous entries and from those finalists, a panel from our Board of Trustees along with members from our TSMA staff and community leaders interviews and selects the scholarship honorees.

The first scholarship awarded in 2007 was $1,500 to Brandon Davie, an USF Polytechnic graduate who achieved his dream of an IT degree and is now the IT Systems Applications Manager for The Schools of McKeel Academy. By 2012, the scholarship fund (formerly known as the Legacy fund) had grown enough to award two scholarships. This year, we are pleased to announce through generous contributions that we are able to expand our scholarship program to include the following four scholarship opportunities:

  1. First Generation Scholarship for students who will be a first generation college student of at least one parent.
  2. Day One Scholarship for students who have been consistently enrolled with TSMA since day one of kindergarten.
  3. Wildcat Scholar Athlete Scholarship for students who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletics.
  4. Director of Schools Achievement Award for students who demonstrate superior leadership within and outside of the school community.

Our vision is to award significant scholarships to our students each year, as they pursue their higher education goals. With your financial support, we can continue to make an investment in our graduates’ futures.

Tax-deductible donations can be made at any time through the schools. Employees have the added benefit of payroll deduction – contact HR for more information.

In 2007 our employees created The McKeel Scholarship Program to invest in our graduating seniors. Please consider how you may take part and contribute to the fund that enables us to support our Wildcat leaders as they march forward in fulfillment of their dreams.
